The trioct is equal to \(\lbrace8,8,8\rbrace\) or \(8\lbrace8\rbrace8\) in BEAF or 8 decated to 8.[1] The term was coined by Jonathan Bowers. This is the eighth Ackermann number.

The name of this number is based on Greek prefixes tri- (three) and octa- (eight), meaning that there are 3 8's in the array.
