Tau, or 2π, is the ratio of a circle's circumference to its radius (rather than diameter). It is used often in mathematics and physics that sometimes it could be treated a constant in its own right, and some people advocate that tau deserves all the fame and recognition given to pi. Some sources use the three-legged pi symbol instead of the Greek letter tau.
