Heptadecation refers to the 17th hyperoperation starting from addition. It is equal to \(a \uparrow^{15} b\) in Knuth's up-arrow notation.

Heptadecation can be written in array notation as \(\{a,b,15\}\) and in chained arrow notation as \(a \rightarrow b \rightarrow 15\).

Heptadecational growth rate is equivalent to \(f_16(n)\) in the fast-growing hierarchy.
